Enlightenment Gained From How the Pharisees Treated the Prophecies About the Messiah

By Liu Fang

Two thousand years ago, the Israelites desperately longed for the coming of the Messiah, but when the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, finally arrived, the Pharisees actually nailed Him to the cross, and as a result, the Israelites were subject to God’s punishment—the destruction of Israel. This bitter failure really calls for our reflection: How come the Pharisees who had believed in God for generations resisted God? Now it is already the last days, and the prophecies of the Lord’s return have basically been fulfilled. At this critical time of welcoming the Lord, how can we avoid following in the footsteps of the Pharisees? Why Was Jesus Rejected in His Hometown of Nazareth?

When the Lord Jesus came to work in the flesh, He performed many signs and wonders like calming the wind and sea, making the lame walk, and making the blind see. He also spoke many parables such as the parable of the sower, the parable of the net, the parable of the treasure, and so on, telling us the truth in language that was plain and homespun—what the Lord Jesus said and did was sufficient to prove that He was the incarnate flesh of God. But there used to be one thing that confused me: People at that time all personally witnessed the Lord Jesus’ work, so why was it that many of them—even His people in Nazareth—did not acknowledge that the Lord Jesus was the incarnate Christ but instead rejected Him? Just as it is written in the Bible: “And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, And rose up, and thrust Him out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill where on their city was built, that they might cast Him down headlong” (Luke 4:28–29). It was only through a sister’s fellowship one day that I finally came to know the reasons behind this. Now I’d like to communicate with you what I understand. Leaning on God, I Found the Right Job

By Chen Dan, United States

In May 2016, I came to the US full of hope and wanting to gain experience in my youth …

Looking for a Job Abroad Is Really Tough

Once I got to the US, I was confronted with the issue of finding a job. I’d thought myself to be professionally experienced and highly independent, that I would adapt to any new environment no matter where I went, and that it would be a breeze to find the perfect job. Little had I realized that every job I looked at would be unsuitable for me. Later, a kind-hearted elder female friend got me a job as a waiter in a restaurant. Although I wasn’t entirely happy with it, I had to put up with it for the time being in order to provide for myself. I thought to myself: “I can keep looking for another job while I work here. If I find a job that’s suitable, then I’ll just quit this one.” After working in the restaurant for several months, however, I still hadn’t found a job that suited me. All I could do was bide my time and carry on with my job as a waiter. Continue reading “Leaning on God, I Found the Right Job”

Jesus’ Parable of the Sower and the Seed

The parable of the sower and the seed is one of Jesus’ classic teachings, as well as God’s commandment for mankind. This is really important for every Christian. After we accepted the way of God, we should obey it with an honest heart. Only thus can our lives bear fruit. In this parable, Jesus listed three situations that would possibly make mankind lose God’s way. This is the very thing we should pay attention to in our daily life. I Gave Up the Pursuit of Money Because of Finding True Happiness

Next, Chen Yan will use her personal experiences to tell you. Continue reading “I Gave Up the Pursuit of Money Because of Finding True Happiness”

It’s Great to Teach Children According to God’s Words

“Mommy, I hate you, I hate you! I don’t want you as my mommy anymore!”

My daughter’s cries stabbed into my heart, and I couldn’t get her resentful glare out of my head. I just didn’t understand it. I’d done my best to teach her and this was what I was getting in return! How exactly was I supposed to be educating her? I felt so anxious and confused about it, and everything I’d done to educate my daughter over the previous two years replayed in my mind … Continue reading “It’s Great to Teach Children According to God’s Words”

It Turns Out That Christians Will Be Raptured in This Way

Fantasies of Being Raptured Into the Air to Meet With God

In 2014, a sister preached the Lord Jesus’ gospel to me. After I started believing in God, I enthusiastically went to meetings, and at one my pastor said, “The Lord Jesus said, ‘I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also’ (John 14:2–3). And Paul also said, ‘Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord’ (1 Thessalonians 4:17). The Lord has prepared a place for us, and when the Lord returns, we will directly be raptured into the air to meet the Lord, after which we will be with the Lord forever. The kingdom of heaven’s walls are made of jasper, the streets are paved with gold, and there are all the jewels, agate, and jade we could want. There is no pain or torment there, no tears or misery, and there are endless blessings to enjoy….” When I heard the enthusiasm in my pastor’s sermon, I thought it would be wonderful if one day I could also be raptured up to heaven by God. Sufferings and Trials—the Blessings of Being Favored

By Wang Gang, Shandong Province

I lived in the countryside. Because my family was poor, I earned money by doing temporary jobs wherever I could find them; I thought that I could make a better life for myself through my physical labor. However, in modern Chinese society, I saw that there were no guarantees for the legal rights of migrant workers like me; my salary was frequently withheld for no reason at all. Time and time again I was cheated and taken advantage of by others. After a year’s worth of hard work, I didn’t receive what I was supposed to receive. I felt that this world is truly dark! Humans treat each other just like animals, where the strong prey on the weak; they contest with each other, fight hand-to-hand, and people simply can’t survive. How to Pray So That God Hears Our Prayers

By Kally

Hello, brothers and sisters, have you heard this story? There was a theology student who was able to recite many pleasant-sounding words of prayer. Every day before meals he would come before the Lord and recite some words by heart, because he thought the Lord liked such prayers. And every time he finished praying he would put a walnut into a glass vase as a sign that he was loyal to the Lord. One night, he dreamed the Lord asked him to crack open the walnuts in the vase, and after he did so he found that each of them was empty. Continue reading “How to Pray So That God Hears Our Prayers”

How Not to Be Constrained in Gatherings

By Arong

In the past, I often actively fellowshiped about my experience and knowledge of God’s words at meetings. But my emotions often swung because of my brothers’ and sisters’ different reactions. Whenever I saw them attentively listening to my fellowshiping and frequently nodding their approval, I would feel elated, whereas when I saw they didn’t respond to my fellowshiping, my heart would sink. However, I didn’t notice these revelations until one meeting. Continue reading “How Not to Be Constrained in Gatherings”
